Thank you, Ryder Dobberpuhl!
At just 8 years of age, this is the fourth time Ryder Dobberpuhl has chosen to forgo birthday presents such as toys and games. Instead, he asks family and friends for pet food and treats. He then travels all the way to Pierre from Sioux Falls with his family to donate them, in person, to Paws Animal Rescue.
Ryder initially took his donations to Sioux Falls Humane Society but was met with a lack of enthusiasm. Workers barely acknowledged his presence and asked him to place the pet food in a corner. Ryder’s grandmother happened to be friends with Pierre resident and Paws volunteer Julia Jones, and hit upon the idea of donating to our shelter. We’re so glad that they did!
At Paws, we are so appreciative of donations of any size. Without the generosity of the local (and not so local, in this case) community, we wouldn’t be able to continue our vital work.
Again, thank you Ryder!!

Thank you to PAWS for being so supportive and apprective of Ryder. It was obvious he loved the cats and dogs. But it was the warmth of the volunteers and workers who made Ryders experience so positive. It was obvious how much you cared for the animals.
Thank you! Ryder’s Grandma
