About Shine

Shine is a grey, brown and white Husky mix dog. Her approximate birth date is October 1, 2010 - approximately 5 ½ months old. Shi is a sweetheart that melts your heart with her big brown eyes. She is very smart and creative and she knows how to get what she wants! She is very affectionate and playful and loves to play with her foster “brother”. Although he is twice her size, it doesn’t stop her from romping with him and nipping at his legs, ankles and neck. She has even snapped at him, but she was corrected for that. Shine is doing very well with house training. She will whimper when she has to go out, wander around the room, or scratch at the door. You just have to watch her signals! She loves to play in the snow, go for walks and climb on the snow piles - the bigger the better. She is fascinated with the geese flying overhead or on Capital Lake. Shine is kept on her leash at all times as she is very quick and agile - she can jump a baby gate very easily. She still has some bad “puppy manners” in that she will still mouth on your hand with her sharp puppy teeth, jump on people, and “counter surf” to see what’s on the kitchen counter, but we are working on these issues! Shine is very affectionate and likes to be with the family. She will lie on the bed with you while watching tv or reading a book. She will quietly play with her chew toys or take a nap on your feet. Since she likes to be with the family, she does have some abandonment issue and does not like to be separated from you. This is very common for her breed. She just wants to be with you. She stays in her kennel during the day and at night, although she does not like to go into her kennel and will “put on the brakes.” We have had to get creative to get her in! Once in her kennel, she will bark and cry for a while if she cannot see you, or when you leave the house. She is improving, but she has a ways to go. She will also carry on for a while when going to bed at night, but that is improving as well. Shine is a very friendly, loving, young dog and will make a wonderful companion for someone.
