If Your Pet Is Missing
Contact Animal Control immediately through the Pierre Police Department:

After the hold period expires, PAWS Animal Rescue may be able to save the animal depending on available space, the animal's temperament, age, and health. If we do not have the capacity to take in the animal, it may be euthanized by the appropriate city or county entity. Time is critical — contact Animal Control as soon as your pet goes missing.
Prevention Tips
Keep ID Tags Updated
Make sure your pet's identification tags are up to date and that they are wearing them at all times.
Keep a Recent Photo
Have a recent, clear picture of your pet on hand in case they ever go missing. This makes it much easier to identify them.
